Medlar

A relation of the Hawthorn and the Quince. A fruiting tree as well as an attractive ornamental tree. Fruits can be used to make a flavoured jelly or serve as an accompaniment to game, pork or lamb. Alternatively they can be eaten raw if left until they reach the point of decomposing in the process known as “bletting” at which point they have a taste like toffee apple.
